Music

We are called to make a joyful noise unto the Lord and our music ministry ensures that happens regularly!

Music is an important means of communion with God and spiritual transformation. As an artistic expression of gifts brought before God in worship, music can engage the whole self in prayer and unite the congregation in song. Instrumental music may also be a form of prayer and is used often in our worship services. Sacred music is not for entertainment or artistic display, nor used merely to cover for silence. Music is an offering to God to enhance our worship experience and deepen our connection with God.

Our worship leaders take great care to ensure that our music is faithful to Scripture, rooted in the Reformed tradition, authentic to the diversity of cultures and customs of the body of Christ, and responsive to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We enjoy a variety of genres of music in our worship, all offered for the glory of God!

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir’s primary role is to lead the congregation in singing. Their repertoire includes a broad range of music written to the glory of God, including Contemporary, Classical, Baroque, and Global music.

Praise Band

The praise band leads the congregation in singing by providing musical support in a variety of styles during worship.

Christmas Eve Orchestra

Local musicians and members of the church join together to offer their gifts of music, playing worshipful arrangements of carols and seasonal music to uplift congregational singing during our Candlelight Christmas Eve service.

Summer Solos

Local musicians, including music students, faculty and performing artists, share their gifts during worship through the summer months. Previous guests include Grammy winning guitarist Tony Ybarra, Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation Winners, and student musicians with the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony.
