Rich Ellgen, Minister to Youth and Young Adults

I got my first experience with student ministry when I received an opportunity to work with youth overseas when I was 19. I fell in love with student ministry. In the context of hanging out and playing doors open to talk about serious issues and joys. I couldn’t get enough. I attended Multnomah Bible College and graduated with a B.A. in Bible/Theology and minored in Youth Ministry. I’ve been working with students in various contexts since 2003. I love teaching the Bible to students and discussing how life and theology are completely intertwined. I joined the team at First Presbyterian Church of Santa Barbara in 2016 and it’s been a joy working with such an amazing church. I married my college love, Pamela, in 2003 and we have two small children Brad and Cole. When not doing ministry things, I hang out with my family. Surfing is also a large part of my life, and I can often be found in one of our local lineups. I also love riding my bike. I’m really enthusiastic about life and new experiences, so if you ever want to try something, let me know, and I’ll probably be into it.
