Advent Activities 2022

ADVENT SEASON AT FIRST PRESBYTERIAN

59th Annual Advent Workshop

Sunday, November 27 | 5-7:30 pm | CFC

Our Advent season kicks off with this beloved First Pres tradition.  The evening begins with a potluck dinner, followed by caroling and crafts for all ages.  Please bring a plate of sandwiches, salad, or dish to share (for 10).  Have your photo taken after church on Sunday, November 20 or 27, for the photo ornament.

Christmas Under the Stars

Wednesday, November 30 | 5:00 pm | Garden Room Lawn

On the first Wednesday of Advent, we’ll celebrate with our newest tradition:  games, caroling, hot chocolate, and special guests Santa and Mrs. Clause!  The evening will culminate with the lighting of the large Christmas Tree on the lawn outside the Garden Room.

James He Qi, Artist

Sunday, December 4 | 9:30 and 10:45 am | Sanctuary

Celebrated Christian artist James He Qi will join us for worship on Sunday, December 4 and also share his story during the Adult Education Hour following worship.  He Qi’s artwork has been featured for several events here at First Presbyterian, including I Madonnari chalk drawing festival and our Journey to Bethlehem advent series, as well as artwork in the Christian Education Center.  He Qi recently gifted us with a print of his piece “Angels and Shepherds.”

Mid-Week Advent Worship Services

Wednesdays, December 7, 14, and 21 | 7:00  pm | Chapel

A cornerstone of Advent, we will reflect on the significance of the season during our mid-week advent services.  This special time of reflection will be led by Pastor Ann and Yvonne Bazinet, with Erin Bonski-Evans leading seasonal music.  We also will celebrate communion as we prepare to welcome the Christ child.

Messiah Sing-Along

Tuesday, December 13 | 7:30 pm | Sanctuary

We are happy to once again host this long held Santa Barbara tradition!  Tickets and scores are available at Chaucer’s Books and all proceeds benefit the Unity Shoppe.

Christmas Eve

Saturday, December 24 | 7:00 pm | Sanctuary

We prepare to welcome the Christ child during a beautiful service that reminds us of the Christmas story and features beautiful music, a children’s nativity tableau, and traditional candle lighting.  This service is following a short time of fellowship in the CFC.

Christmas Day

Sunday, December 25 | 9:30 am | Chapel

What better way to celebrate Christmas than with carols and the Christmas story!  This short, intimate service will be held in the Chapel.
