Season of Transition

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances”
(1 Thess. 5:16-18).

February 1st, 2019, will mark nine months since the retirement of our former Pastor and Head of Staff, Peter Buehler. Our lay leadership and staff teams have worked diligently to ensure a smooth time of transition and discernment, even as we have met unexpected circumstances.

Our Interim Pastor Nominating Committee (IPNC) regrouped this month, all four members re-committing to seeing this process through. However, there are no qualified Interim Pastor candidates in the pipeline at this time.  This is our reality and the challenge we have faced since the outset.

But there is good news: The delay in the Interim Pastor search has not hindered forward progress. Our Mission Study Task Force is doing excellent work. This group is tasked with identifying the mission and ministry objectives for First Presbyterian as God works in our hearts and lives to shape a vision for vibrant ministry into the future.

The information and vision developed by the Mission Study Task Force will directly inform the Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC), which is on track to be developed, and voted on by the congregation, in this Spring 2019 nominations process.

Thank you for your continuous prayers, and for the joy we are experiencing in this season of transition. In circumstances that have been unforeseen, we are leaning on God’s goodness, grace, and faithfulness, and finding it to be more than sufficient!
