Season of Transition

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances”
(1 Thess. 5:16-18).

May 1st marked one year since the retirement of our former Pastor and Head of Staff, Peter Buehler. Our lay leadership and staff teams have worked diligently to ensure a smooth time of transition and discernment, even as we have met unexpected circumstances.

Our Interim Pastor Nominating Committee (IPNC) has completed its long and patient search, and we look forward to welcoming Interim Pastor Charles Svendsen on July 1st 2019. Charles is a gifted pastor with extensive experience in interim ministry.

The longer-than-expected Interim Pastor search has not hindered forward progress. Our Mission Study Task Force is doing excellent work, and is nearing the final draft of our Mission Study. This group is tasked with identifying the mission and ministry objectives for First Presbyterian as God works in our hearts and lives to shape a vision for vibrant ministry into the future.

The information of the Mission Study will directly inform the Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC), which has been formed as a part of our 2019 nominating process. Thank you for keeping the members of the Pastor Nominating Committee in your prayers.

Thank you for your continuous prayers for all of our ministries and outreach. Even in this season of transition, we are experiencing the joy that comes from having faith in Christ’s work in our midst, and trusting in God to guide us.  Together, we are leaning on God’s goodness, grace, and faithfulness, and finding it to be more than sufficient!
